2021 Pharmacist of the Year: Nicole Harrington, PharmD, BCPS-AQ Infectious Diseases

Nicole Harrington was a pharmacy student at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science when she began to work at Christiana Care Health System as a pharmacy technician. After graduation, Nicole completed her PGY1 and PGY2 training at Thomas Jefferson Hospital and in 2011 became the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Infectious Diseases at ChristianaCare. In all, Nicole has been with the health system for 14 years.

During this time, as the program Co-Chairperson, Nicole has spearheaded the transformation and growth of the Antimicrobial Stewardship program into what it is today, a force that touches both inpatient and outpatient practices within the state of Delaware. Nicole has served on many multidisciplinary committees both in the health system and at the state level. Nicole is an accomplished presenter, author, and researcher. Nicole fosters the development of pharmacy residents, not only during her antimicrobial stewardship core rotation experience, but by also being an active past member on the PGY1 Residency Steering Committee, current member on the Residency Research Committee, and serving as a resident mentor. Nicole has overseen countless resident research projects, grand rounds, newsletters, etc.

Nicole was also recently recognized as a Multiplying Good One in a Million Award recipient. Nicole has been vital as a drug information expert in evaluating literature and therapies to make treatment decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021 Pharmacy Technician of the Year: Lisa Keller, CPhT

Lisa Keller is a pharmacy technician at Wilmington Hospital and she is trained for a variety of shifts. No matter what position or shift, Lisa always has the patients and her coworkers in the forefront of her mind. Lisa goes above and beyond to work as a team player and provide the best care she can to patients. Lisa is attentive to detail, hardworking, and always reliable. Lisa is a pleasure to work with and her work ethic is motivating to everyone around her.

It is a privilege to work alongside such talented, dedicated, and caring colleagues.

Congratulations again to Nicole and Lisa on this well-deserved recognition!!

DSHP Dinner Event September 27th

Bristol Myers-Squibb is having a free educational dinner for DSHP on Thursday, September 27th. The topic is Reduction in the Risk of Stroke and Systemic Embolism in Patients With Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation presented by Lester Shoap, MD. The dinner will be located at Harry’s Savoy Grill 2020 Naamans Rd, Wilmington, DE 19801. Cocktails will start at 5:30pm followed by a dinner presentation at 7:00pm. This event is open to Pharmacist members and non-members. CE credit will not be provided.
